Your Role

As a Nursery Lead Hand, you will play a critical role in daily production success. Reporting to the Section Grower, you will lead a team, support crop care and quality, and help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Willowbrook's high standards.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with both plants and people, and who thrives in a leadership position on the floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and supervise a team of nursery employees

  • Set daily priorities and ensure production targets are met

  • Support hands-on crop work including planting, transplanting, grafting, and monitoring plant health

  • Identify and report pest, disease, or quality concerns

  • Support potting line operations (January–April) and shipping activities as needed

  • Maintain high standards for safety, organization, and quality

  • Work closely with the Section Grower to execute production plans

  • Support other departments during peak operational periods

What We're Looking For

  • 1–2+ years of nursery or horticulture experience

  • Previous leadership or crew supervision experience is a strong asset

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • A hands-on, reliable leader who leads by example

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, physical work environment

  • Grower Pesticide Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Working Conditions

  • Physically active role (standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs)

  • Work in greenhouse and outdoor nursery environments

  • Extended hours may be required during peak seasons
