The Municipality of the County of Victoria is hiring a full-time permanent Wastewater Operator – Collection . This position is based out of Ingonish, Nova Scotia.

This position is responsible for skilled technical and operational work in the day-to-day operation of the Municipality's wastewater treatment facilities, associated pump stations, and collection systems. Ensures systems operate safely and efficiently and remain compliant with Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change (NSECC) regulations, permits, and municipal procedures. This position conducts process control, sampling, monitoring, troubleshooting, equipment operation, and routine maintenance tasks.

  • Term: Full-time; permanent; unionized
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (may vary)
  • Rate: $29.96 per hour as per the collective agreement

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary specialized training in a relevant technical field.
  • Class I Wastewater Collection Operator's certificate issued by the Province of Nova Scotia Operator-In-Training (OIT) and ability to obtain at least Class I Wastewater Collection Operator's certificate issued by the Province of Nova Scotia within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Ability to obtain Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator's certificate issued by the Province of Nova Scotia within reasonable amount of time.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering or public works environment, notable experience in water treatment and distribution systems and/or wastewater treatment and collection systems.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver's License and clean driver's abstract.
