The Farm hand position will entail the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Soil preparation (clearing, amendments, tilling, packing)

  • Plug & seed planting, maintenance, training, inspection and harvesting of crops.

  • Set up and operate irrigation equipment.

  • Assist with the maintenance of field infrastructure

Fronterra is looking for a passionate, creative and hard working candidate with an education in agriculture, an understanding of global food system issues and an interest for local farming practices, social responsibility and community health. It is expected that the candidate will have applied professional skills and knowledge of historic and contemporary farm practices, such as crop planning and rotation, composting and livestock management. Experience using farm equipment such as a tractor, tiller, irrigation system, chain saw, etc. is an asset along with basic building skills. Previous experience supervising staff and managing projects is also an asset.

Salary: $18/hour based on previous experience and qualifications. Possible accommodations available on the farm.
