Position Overview

We're looking for a reliable, skilled Maintenance Worker to support our Facilities Manager in ensuring our buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong handyman or construction-type skills who can troubleshoot, repair, and support daily operational needs across the school.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform day-to-day repairs (doors, locks, drywall, painting, fixtures, minor electrical, minor plumbing, carpentry, furniture repair).
  • Support preventative maintenance schedules and inspections.
  • Diagnose and resolve routine building issues promptly.

Support to the Facilities Manager

  • Work directly with the Facilities Manager on daily priorities and project planning.
  • Assist in coordinating contractors, service providers, and site access.
  • Communicate clearly regarding repair status, safety concerns, and materials needed.

Facilities & Operational Support

  • Set up and take down rooms for events, assemblies, and school functions.
  • Move furniture/equipment; maintain clean, organized mechanical and storage areas.
  • Assist with deliveries, inventory, and organizing supplies.

Safety & Compliance

  • Identify and report hazards, damage, and maintenance concerns.
  • Follow all RCA safety protocols and ensure work is done safely and compliantly.
  • Support emergency preparedness tasks as needed.

Groundskeeping (Light)

  • Basic exterior upkeep (sweeping walkways, debris removal, trimming small areas, maintaining outdoor spaces).

QualificationsTechnical Experience

  • Strong handyman skill set, including basic carpentry, painting, patching, minor plumbing, and minor electrical work.
  • Construction or trades-related background is an asset and will strengthen candidacy, especially for larger repair or renovation tasks.
  • Comfortable using maintenance tools, ladders, and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and work safely in physically active environments.

  • Clear communication and professionalism around staff, students, and families.
  • Team-oriented and willing to pitch in where needed.
