Copernicus Lodge is a healthcare organization that provides for a continuum of care to polish seniors. We are located in the heart of Roncesvalles Village just west of downtown Toronto. We have 200 seniors' apartments with a Supportive Housing program, 228 Long Term Care beds and an Adult Day Program. We are looking for part time (on-call) Maintenance Worker I. This position is working 8 and 12 hour shifts evenings/nights and weekends.

Maintenance I staff are responsible for the overall cleaning and upkeep of all of Copernicus Lodge premises.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Environmental Services Maintenance Staff are involved with ALL aspects of operations
  • Emergency Services
  • Facility Maintenance
  • GREEN Recycling Program
  • Grounds Maintenance
  • Parking Control
  • Pest Control
  • Reception Duties- provide coverage for reception as needed
  • Security of Facilities Block 1 and 2
  • Waste Management
  • Clean up patio(s), and designated smoking area
  • Pick up and sort recycled paper / cardboard from kitchen
  • Vacuuming carpets and washing floors

Minimum qualifications for Maintenance I:

  • General knowledge of maintenance – cleaning of the whole building.
  • Able to speak English.
  • Ability to speak Polish is an asset
  • Experience in fire alarm and emergency measures in a high-rise building.
  • Must do a vulnerable person's police check as condition of employment.
  • Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all federal, provincial and municipal regulations that pertain to this Act
  • Good physical health, appropriate for carrying out the tasks of the job.
  • Good problem solving skills, able to work in cooperative and flexible manner
  • Able to provide good customer service to residents, families, visitors and suppliers/contactors resident-focused
  • Self motivated, observant, ability to follow instruction, and complete the assignments with minimum or no supervision.
  • Some experience with commercial cleaning equipment.
