About the Role:

Kinnect Support Services is seeking a compassionate Child and Youth Care Practitioner (CYCP) to join our shelter team in Toronto. In this role, you will provide direct supervision and support to youth in a shelter environment, ensuring their safety, well-being, and personal growth. The ideal candidate has experience working with at-risk and homeless youth and is committed to making a positive impact in their lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and care for youth residents within the shelter.
  • Maintain safety and well-being of all residents.
  • Document case notes and enter data in the Shelter Management Information System (SMIS).
  • Support youth in developing and following individualized case plans according to City of Toronto Shelter Standards.
  • Connect residents with community resources and services.
  • Plan and deliver group programming for shelter residents.
  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or related field (e.g., CYCP, CYC, BSW, SSW).
  • At least 1 year of experience working with youth in residential, transitional, or shelter settings.
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by homeless and street-involved youth, including trauma, mental health, substance use, and systemic barriers.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Skilled in managing conflict and crisis situations calmly and professionally.
  • Proficient in administrative and computer tasks.

Requirements:

  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid UMAB and CPI certifications.
  • Suicide prevention and intervention training completed (per Shelter Standards).
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (minimum two doses of a Health Canada approved vaccine).

Schedule:

  • Day, Evening, Morning, and Night shifts available
  • Monday to Friday and weekends as needed

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
