- Purpose_

The Relief Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for, and assisting the Food Security Coordinator with, providing meal preparation and receiving and stocking food deliveries. This role will be responsible for maintaining health, safety and food standards while providing a welcome environment in the kitchen.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the preparation of nutritionally sound and cultural specific meal.
- Deep knowledge and comfort with preparing Caribbean, South Asian, Latin American and continental African meals.
- Coordinate the purchase of food, supplies and equipment required, when necessary.
- Compliance with approved operational food budget.
- Ensure that optimal food safety standards are maintained at all times.
- Oversee all kitchen volunteers

- Oversee all kitchen volunteers
- Takes personal responsibility to increase sensitivity, awareness and work-related activities related to Trauma Informed Practice - Key Principles
- Adheres to NYWS policies and procedures
- Works respectfully and maintains confidentially with clients, co-workers and the organization
- Fills kitchen maintenance request reports with Operations and Client Service Manager
- Other duties as required

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Graduate of two-year culinary arts program and/or equivalent training and work experience
- Current Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Minimum 3 years' experience in agencies with food programming catering to diverse populations
- Current CPR and First Aid certificates
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC) with future checks
- Able to successfully work from an anti-racist/anti-oppression and trauma-informed practice framework
- Excellent professional and empathetic communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a strong dynamic team
- Ability to work collaboratively in a pet-friendly environment
- Strong adherence to ethical policies, procedures, and exercises a high degree of confidentiality and privacy of iinformation as outlined in NYWS policies and procedures, as well as in Trauma-Informed Practice - Key Principles

**Physical Requirements**
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment and adhere to COVID-19 infection prevention principles
- Able to lift, up to and including, 30lbs; sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with arms/hands. Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items is occasionally
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
- Exposure to illnesses such as cold and influenza on a weekly basis
- Exposed to loud sounds and high noise levels on a weekly basis
- Exposed to possible risks of managing conflicts amongst women and children in crisis
- Exposure to external threats (abusive partners)
