Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Bookkeeper to support our accounting team. This role involves assisting with various bookkeeping and accounting tasks to ensure accurate financial record-keeping and compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining and reconciling the general ledger, including general ledger reconciliation and account analysis
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits & credits in accordance with GAAP standards
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations for accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Support accounts payable processing and manage invoice entry and payment schedules
  • Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
  • Help prepare financial reports, including balance sheet reconciliation and financial report writing
  • Support budgeting activities and assist in financial analysis to aid decision-making processes
  • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards where applicable
  • Perform data entry tasks such as 10 key typing and account analysis to support daily bookkeeping operations

Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping,
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account reconciliation
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and tax experience is preferred
  • Ability to perform journal entries accurately and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Familiarity with governmental or non-profit accounting practices is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong analytical skills for account analysis and account reconciliation tasks
  • Good communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and documentation
  • Basic proficiency in 10 key typing for data entry purposes
