Role of Delivery Assistant/Swamper
You'll be working alongside a driver and another assistant every day. You and your fellow swamper will work in tandem with a forklift to load the truck according to the driver's efficient loading plan. You'll carefully follow the plan because your pay will be based partly on how much you can deliver; a heavier truck means a heavier paycheque. Punctuality is very important to start your day.
Tasks and results for this position include:
· A team player – you work well with a crew and bring a positive attitude.
· Proactive – you look for ways to pitch in and respond when you see a need.
· Driven – you want to succeed at this job because you can build a career here.
· Punctual – great attendance and on time.

Key Tasks
- Assist with loading and unloading building materials from trucks, ensuring safe handling and accurate delivery.
- Verify delivery contents against shipping documents and report discrepancies or damages promptly.
- Follow delivery schedules and assist drivers in navigating to job sites efficiently.
- Communicate with site supervisors or customers to confirm drop-off locations and special handling instructions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vehicles and material storage areas.
- Support warehouse staff with inventory tasks and general upkeep when not on delivery routes.
Skills and Abilities
- Must understand and comply with required health and safety regulations
- Able to assess a situation and recognize potential hazards
- Must have strong reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Be comfortable working at heights
- Able to lift of up to 36kg (80lbs.)
- Able to work outside in various weather conditions
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Past experience in building products and/or working at heights are definite assets
