Position Overview

This position is responsible for the collection, receiving, accessioning and preparation of all samples for diagnostic testing and results reporting of clinical samples. The LT3 may also be required to identify and resolve unsuitable specimens for testing. Depending on operational requirements they may be required to assist with training of new staff as well as may rotate through different specified job functions.

Rotation/Shifts

Days and evenings, including weekends, 8 hour shifts. For information purposes only - EORLA reserves the right to change.

Basic Requirements

  • College diploma from a recognized program or successful completion of MLPAO or successful completion of CSMLS exam in the appropriate field of practice;
  • Minimum of six months to one year of experience unless clinical placement was conducted in one of EORLA's labs;
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory theory, principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation; transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, Universal precautions, safe handling practices;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

Aperçu du poste

Le titulaire de ce poste est responsable de la collecte, de la réception, de l'enregistrement et de la préparation de tous les échantillons pour les essais diagnostiques ainsi que de la production de rapports sur les résultats des échantillons cliniques. Il peut aussi devoir identifier les spécimens qui ne conviennent pas aux essais et prendre des décisions connexes. Selon les besoins opérationnels, il peut devoir aider à former de nouveaux employés et remplir différentes fonctions particulières.

Rotation/Quarts de travail

De jour et de soirée, incluant les fins de semaine, quarts de 8 heures. À titre d'information seulement - L'ALREO se réserve le droit de modifier.

Exigences pré-requis

  • Formation postsecondaire dans un programme reconnu de technicien de laboratoire médical OU réussite de l'examen de l'APLMO OU réussite de l'examen de la Société canadienne de science de laboratoire médical dans un domaine pertinent;
  • Au moins six mois ou un an d'expérience, à moins que le placement clinique ait été fait dans un des laboratoires de l'ALREO;
  • Connaissance de la théorie, des principes et des pratiques de laboratoire médical;
  • Connaissance des lois relatives à la santé et à la sécurité au travail applicables, des lois sur le transport de marchandises dangereuses, du SIMDUT, des précautions universelles ainsi que des pratiques de manipulation sécuritaire;
  • Bonnes compétences de communication et interpersonnelles.

À titre de condition pré-emploi, tout nouvel employé de l'ALREO doit soumettre un rapport de vérification d'antécédents criminels conforme, et daté de moins de six (6) mois à compter de la date d'émission.
