Position Summary
The
Construction Manager
will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all site construction activities related to the installation of electrorefining equipment within a new or existing mineral processing facility in Potosí, Bolivia.
The role ensures that construction, installation, and commissioning works are executed
safely
,
on schedule
,
within budget
, and to the required
quality standards
.
This position reports to the
Project Manager
and interfaces closely with
engineering, procurement, QA/QC
, and
commissioning
teams, as well as client representatives and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Construction Management
- Plan, lead, and supervise all on-site construction activities associated with the electrorefining process area (cells, cathode/anion systems, busbars, tankhouses, rectifiers, overhead cranes, electrolyte piping, etc.).
- Review IFC drawings and specifications; ensure all field work aligns with design intent and quality standards.
- Manage subcontractor performance, site mobilization, work sequencing, and progress tracking.
- Coordinate daily site activities, tool-box talks, and ensure alignment with construction schedules.
2. Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Enforce
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE)
standards, ensuring full compliance with Bolivian regulations and company safety procedures. - Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Promote a culture of safety excellence across all work fronts.
3. Schedule, Cost, and Quality Control
- Monitor progress against construction schedules and milestone deliverables.
- Identify and mitigate potential delays, conflicts, and resource constraints.
- Support project controls with field data for cost tracking and earned value reporting.
- Oversee QA/QC documentation, inspections, and punch list management.
4. Coordination and Communication
- Serve as the primary site contact for the Project Manager and Engineering team.
- Participate in daily/weekly coordination meetings with the client, EPCM contractor, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication between field trades, suppliers, and commissioning teams.
5. Technical Oversight
- Ensure proper installation of electrorefining tanks, cathode handling systems, electrical buswork, and electrolyte distribution systems.
- Verify vendor installation requirements and coordinate technical queries (RFIs) as needed.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including hydrotesting, continuity checks, and mechanical completion sign-off.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in
Engineering, Construction Management
, or a related technical field. - Minimum of
10 years of experience
in industrial construction, with at least
5 years in metallurgical or mineral processing facilities
(preferably precious metals). - Proven experience in
electrowinning or electrorefining system installations
(preferred). - Strong leadership in multicultural and remote-site environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of
Bolivian construction regulations and permitting
(preferred). - Fluent in Spanish, with
intermediate to advanced English proficiency
strongly preferred.

MS Project
for schedule tracking.
