The Hallway Café operates as a social enterprise, offering employment readiness training for young people while generating revenue through food and beverage services.
As the Youth Case Coordinator – Employment Navigation, you will build community partnerships, support youth in their transition to employment, and provide wrap-around support alongside a multidisciplinary team. You will guide youth through a 17-week employment readiness program and ensure a successful transition into meaningful employment through coaching, resume support, interview preparation, and ongoing follow-up.
You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and be actively engaged in the café environment, workshops, and youth support activities.
Key Responsibilities
Youth Support & Case Management

  • Build rapport and provide supportive, trauma-informed guidance.
  • Support youth with employment goals, expectations, job searches, resumes, and interviews.
  • Provide 1:1 support and crisis intervention for youth facing addiction, mental health concerns, poverty, and houselessness.
  • Communicate regularly with internal teams about youth progress and needs.
  • Complete documentation, reporting, and Critical Incident Reports.

Employment Navigation

  • Build and maintain employer partnerships across Edmonton.
  • Promote the training model of The Hallway Café to community employers.
  • Connect youth to employment opportunities and support them during their transition.
  • Provide support to both youth and employers during onboarding.

Social Enterprise Support

  • Engage with youth during program participation and throughout the 12-month follow-up period.
  • Participate in daily café production tasks and customer service activities.

Workshop Facilitation

  • Deliver workshops including Life Skills Learning, Stress Management, Food Service Training, and employment-related modules.

Administration

  • Follow agency and program policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update youth files.
  • Complete required documentation and reporting.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care (CYC), Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
  • Food safety training.
  • Class 5 Driver's License, reliable registered vehicle, recent driver's abstract, and valid insurance with minimum $2M liability.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with vulnerable youth populations.
  • Experience in hospitality or food service is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with youth who face addictions, poverty, mental health challenges, and trauma.
  • Experience facilitating workshops.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction, resiliency, trauma-informed, and solution-focused practice.
  • Understanding of barriers impacting youth and the ability to respond effectively.
