The Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic, results-oriented, and commercially driven General Manager to lead Hugel Canada. Based in Toronto, Canada, the General Manager will have full accountability for the Canadian business, overseeing commercial operations, marketing, regulatory compliance, medical affairs, and operational functions across the country.
This role requires a proven leader with a track record of driving revenue growth, scaling teams, and delivering operational excellence in the medical aesthetics or related healthcare industries. The successful candidate will combine strong market insight with an entrepreneurial mindset—building a high-performing organization, ensuring compliance with Health Canada regulations, and expanding Hugel's presence in the Canadian aesthetics market.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
- Develop and execute a strategic plan that drives revenue, market share, and long-term brand leadership.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and commercial planning for the Canadian P&L.
- Analyze Canadian market dynamics, competitive activity, pricing trends, and customer insights to guide strategic decisions.
- Ensure successful launch and lifecycle management of Hugel products in Canada.
Sales & Marketing Execution
- Build, coach, and manage high-performing Canadian sales and marketing teams.
- Drive field-force effectiveness, customer engagement quality, and national coverage models.
- Oversee local promotional campaigns, customer programs, and brand activities tailored to Canada.
- Develop deep relationships with aesthetic physicians, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, clinics, medical spas, and KOLs.
Operational & Regulatory Coordination
- Oversee Canadian operational processes, including supply coordination, forecasting alignment, local logistics, and customer support.
- Ensure all activities comply with Health Canada requirements, advertising standards, labeling guidelines, and post-market obligations.
- Coordinate with regulatory partners on submissions, approvals, and product oversight.
- Ensure strong local operational controls, documentation, and quality standards.
Compliance & Governance
- Uphold the highest standards of compliance in marketing, promotion, scientific communication, and field engagement.
- Ensure all activities follow relevant Canadian healthcare regulations and internal policies.
- Promote a strong ethical culture across all Canadian teams.
Team Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build a strong Canadian organization by setting clear expectations, team structure, and performance standards.
- Partner with Global HR on recruitment processes, candidate evaluations, and onboarding—providing local insights and ensuring alignment with Canada-specific needs.
- Support local interviewing and talent assessment as required, while global HR manages sourcing, recruiting, and final hiring processes.
- Lead, coach, and develop Canadian team members to build capabilities, ensure strong performance, and support long-term career growth.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, ethical behavior, and customer-centricity across the Canadian team.
- Oversee local training, performance management, and professional development initiatives in partnership with Global HR.
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor's degree required — preferably in Business, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field (MBA or Master's degree preferred).
Experience
- 10+ years of leadership experience in medical aesthetics, pharmaceuticals, dermatology, biotech, or medical devices.
- 5+ years in senior commercial or general management roles (GM, Country Manager, VP, Director-level).
- Strong understanding of the Canadian aesthetics market, including channel dynamics and customer segments.
- Experience with injectables (botulinum toxin or HA fillers) strongly preferred.
- Strong operational understanding of Health Canada regulations, compliance standards, post-market obligations, and promotional rules.
- Proven track record of scaling teams and delivering revenue growth.
Skills
- Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, communication, and team-building abilities.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution discipline.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, regulatory, medical affairs, marketing, and commercial teams.
