PWO Canada is a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier for auto manufacturers globally. We are one of five subsidiaries in the PWO AG Group, manufacturing lightweight metal components for the automotive industry.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Key Accounts Manager manages and controls the accounts for key customers. The position is responsible for all calculations, submissions and negotiations in the quoting process for new businesses and for change requests, from receipt of RFQ through to follow up with customers. As a principal liaison between PWO and the customer, the Key Account Manager is responsible ensuring good customer relations while representing the company interests.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The Key Account Manager works with others and makes decisions regarding quotes to customers, purchases, expenses, and remuneration within the key customer accounts. The incumbent must coordinate quoting efforts with partners in project management, engineering, purchasing, logistics and finance departments locally and in other subsidiaries.

Challenges faced by the position include acquiring new business with the customer, negotiating price increases/decreases, reversal of customer charge backs due to communication breakdowns, collection or investigation into overdue accounts, relocation of production, and assisting in settling disputes in a diplomatic fashion to ensure good customer relations. This is accomplished by reference of agreements, industry standards, and a sense of fairness to both parties in meeting customer requirements. Major challenges include finding information that is the responsibility of other departments. Activities performed by the position impact the department in both the short-term and long-term.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of a post secondary education in an Engineering, Business Management, Mechanical Technology, and/or Marketing program is required.
Knowledge and Skills: The position must have an excellent understanding of the sales and marketing of potential business in the automotive industry. The position requires the ability to use Microsoft Office and MRP systems. Management skills such as delegation, problem solving, organization, time management and interpersonal skills are required. Must have both a valid Ontario Driver's License and Passport as both are necessary due to travel requirements.
Communication Skills: Organized, calm disposition and strong communication skills to deal with customers and internal partners.
Nature and Length of Experience: At least five (5) years experience in a similar job and manufacturing environment is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages key customer accounts.
- Primary customer contact.
- Leads global projects for PWO Canada Inc.
- Meets all customer demands on time.
- Works together with internal departments and personnel to coordinate efforts and actions with purchasing, production, research and development, maintenance, and management.
- Handles internal/external complaints regarding quotes, pricing and sales for customers. Ensures a high level of customer service by developing a rapport with customers.
- Supplies customers with specific documentation as required in a timely manner.
- Applies the appropriate Risk Management to all new quotes and projects. Involves PWO AG staff for the implementation of new projects and processes where PWO Canada has not proven its core competence, especially for safety related stampings and assemblies.
- Involves the CEO to report on risks and rewards on a monthly basis for all projects on hand which have a more than 50% chance for realization.
- Monitoring and reporting on effects of fluctuating material costs.
- Calculates costs, cycle times, and estimates for new and existing processes, projects, and key customer accounts.
- On customer portals, submits offers and requested information, maintains PWO commercial data.
- Makes efficient use of electronic data collection software.
- Performs all duties within the 5S standards.
- Follows and performs to the instructions as outlined in the Work Area Reference Manual (s) applicable to the department.
- Follows and performs to the processed and instructions as outlined in the Process House applicable to the department.
- Compliance to all company HR policies and procedures.
- Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy.
- Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees.
- Manages the work performed and work area to comply with all safety requirements for all staff. Manages and coordinates the corrective measures for all unsafe work conditions and personal injuries for all staff.
