Property Manager & Safety Coordinator- Shift Auto Group

Shift Auto Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Property Manager & Safety Coordinator to oversee the maintenance, safety, and overall functionality of our properties, facilities, and grounds. This dual focused role ensures that all company buildings and service areas operate at the highest standards of safety, compliance, efficiency, and appearance, while also playing a key leadership role in the coordination and execution of the organization's Safety Program.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive facility management professional with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a safe, compliant, and well-maintained work environment across all Shift Auto Group locations.

Main Responsibilities

Property Management

  • Work with General Managers or Branch Managers to oversee maintenance of all Shift

Auto Group buildings, service areas, lots and grounds

  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify and assess repair or safety needs
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring service delivery meets standards

and cost objectives

  • Coordinate the procurement of required services, including obtaining pricing proposals

and contract terms prior to appointment and approval

  • Oversee and supervise contractors, service providers, and vendors performing repairs,

maintenance, or other property-related work

  • Ensure all properties operate in compliance with building codes, fire codes,

environmental standards and municipal regulations

  • Assist with or obtain any necessary building permits or licenses
  • Assist in development of annual capital and maintenance budgets, as well as

contributing to multi-year capital planning and building improvement strategies

  • Monitor and manage facility maintenance budgets and related capital expenditures
  • Assist with any property related insurance matters, claims management, and incident

response

  • Assist in the design phase of construction projects, including architectural, mechanical,

electrical, and civil work

  • Assist with or manage building renovations, expansions, or improvement projects

(depending on the size of the project)

  • Oversee or develop maintenance schedules for HVAC systems, lighting, electrical,

plumbing, or other structural components.

Compliance and Safety

  • Serve as a Safety Champion / Safety Lead for Shift Auto Group
  • Promote and reinforce a safety-first culture across the organization
  • Assist management in maintaining and updating the Health & Safety Program
  • Conduct workplace inspections and / or review workplace inspection reports conducted

by third-parties. Work with management to complete any required corrective actions.

  • Conduct or ensure that safety meetings and toolbox talks are occurring in collaboration

with management

  • Lead or assist in incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented

and tracked

  • Assist with developing and maintaining safety policies, safe work practices, hazard

assessments, or job procedures

  • Monitor compliance with company safety policies or regulatory requirements
  • Assist with coordinating safety training
  • Ensure that compliance with company safety policies or regulatory requirements is

achieved on construction projects. Interact with contractor safety representatives as

appropriate.

  • Assist with maintaining safety documentation and records as required by legislation or

company standards

Emergency Preparedness and Environmental

  • Develop and / or maintain emergency response and evacuation procedures for each

facility

  • Ensure fire safety systems are inspected and functional (extinguishers, alarms, exits)
  • Oversee spill prevention, waste management, and environmental safety practices
  • Assist and / or lead any emergency drills or safety awareness campaigns

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in property or facility management
  • Working knowledge of OHS regulations, building codes, and maintenance best practices
  • Post-secondary education or designations in Property / Facilities Management, Health &

Safety, or a related field is an asset

  • Experience in occupational health & safety role is an asset
  • Project management experience / certification is an asset
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects or tasks
  • Analytical, problem solver, and detail-oriented
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word or comparable applications
  • Valid drivers license
