Accounts Payable Clerk

Springhill Lumber Wholesale Ltd. is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the accounting department, as an Accounts Payable Clerk, full-time (Monday to Friday). The Accounts Payable Clerk will report to Accounts Payable Supervisor. The candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn about the company and develop skills required to support the accounting department. The candidate will be proficient in Office based software, will be a strong team player and possess superior communication skills, both written and oral.

The successful candidate will receive full company paid benefits after 90-days.

Salary: Depending on Experience

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process vendor invoices by verifying, coding and entering payables into ERP system in a timely manner;
  • Ensure expenses are charged to the correct accounts and cost centers;
  • Ensure all cheques are properly authorized and mailed promptly;
  • Prepare and process weekly cheque runs, electronic payments in a timely manner;
  • Monitor vendor accounts, verify supporting documentation, and prepare payments while maximizing available discount opportunities;
  • Communicate with internal departments and vendors to resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders, invoices, etc.;
  • Receive, review and organize incoming vendor bills and statements;
  • Reconcile monthly vendor statements;
  • Back up to the Accounts Payable Supervisor;
  • Maintain an organized and accurate filing system for all financial documents;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of accounts payable experience;
  • Knowledge of BisTrack and Great Plains is an asset;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative;
  • Highly efficient with the ability to approach tasks logically and maintains strong attention to details;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work in a demanding environment;
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to handle company information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality;
  • Knowledge of MS Office;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Reliable vehicle is required, as this is a non-bus route.
