Position Summary :
Hospital Security Officers maintain a high regard for the rights of all hospital patrons & the laws governing those rights. Our team endeavors to preserve & maintain an environment where diverse social & cultural values are allowed & accepted.
Responsibilities:
Some major services our Security team provides include twenty four hour Security coverage of the hospital with a dedicated officer in the Emergency Department, immediate response to all Hospital Emergency Codes, asset protection, maintaining a safe environment for Patients, Staff, Physicians & Volunteers, access control, issuing parking infraction notices & assisting clinical staff with patient care as required. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Position Requirements:
• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License required
• Must have 2-year Law and Security course or equivalent combination of experience and education
• Ability to communicate with the general public and other Hospital staff and external emergency personnel
• Good oral and written skills
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
• Must have CPR and First Aid Certificate
• Ability to make decisions in an emergency or stressful situations
• Must be able to prioritize workload
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent computer skills
• Some mechanical abilities
• Excellent attendance record
