Position Overview
Union House is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and diligent to add to our team Union House is a small private operation currently seeking both part-time and full-time staff. The ideal candidate meets every requirement, already has completed certifications and paperwork, and has at least one year experience working in a similar location, this includes work and volunteer experiences. Union House is unique in the atmosphere we create in the home, it is an exciting and interesting place to work and candidates should be looking to learn and adapt everyday. Our location is meant to feel like home to each resident and a team member will understand the necessities of all residents in a case-by-case scenario.
Responsibilities
- Complete tasks and duties with utmost attention while consistently maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in the work place.
- Assist residents and strive towards independence when applicable regarding personal hygiene as required including but not limited to; bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Prepare meals/snacks, as well as assisting with feeding where applicable. This includes following the meal plan for all residents, as well as one resident who is a diabetic.
- Administer medications properly and sign medication records.
- Complete all daily chores and other cleaning tasks as listed on the schedule, including laundry, dishes, mopping etc.
- Keep detailed records in the shift book as well as the medication records. Staff are also responsible for answering the telephone and taking messages for residents/operator.
- Participate in group activities and or outings accompanying the residents with other staff.
Qualifications
- Valid and current First-Aid and CPR certification
- Valid and current Criminal Record Check as well as Vulnerable Sector Check
- Certification as one of following (or similar experience/certifications), Human Service Counsellor, Personal Support Worker, Home Health Care Aide, (other certifications and experience may be applicable. Please do not hesitate to reach out to see if you qualify. Certification can also be completed while/during employment so apply or email anyway).
- Experience in a special care home atmosphere for at least six-months, is preferred.
- Two references, please include email and or phone number in application.
Application Process
- Application sent via Indeed and or email. An application should include the following; cover letter, resume, two references, are MANDATORY.
- CPR/First Aid certification, other qualifying certifications/courses/certification should also be included in the application. If you have not completed any of the above fields, they can be accepted later in the application process, before you begin working.
- After your application has been reviewed, if management decides to reach out we will do so via email as supplied by you in your resume.
- Interviews will be completed at Union House led by the owner/operator and operations manager, including an introduction to the residents.
- After your interview, if both yourself and management wish to continue with the process we will schedule a trial shift, which management will be present for the entirety of.
- Lastly, if all above steps go well and management wishes to move forward you will be required to supply all documents and certifications listed above in qualifications, or other arrangements made to acquire qualifications as discussed with management if necessary. This process includes getting a current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Job Types: Part-time, full-time, casual. Including nights/evenings/days/weekends.
