Position Summary
We are seeking an Overhead Crane Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting overhead cranes and hoisting equipment at our customers' sites. This role requires technical expertise of hoist brands found in the Ontario market, safety awareness, and strong problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on overhead cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, replacing or repairing defective parts
- Accurately complete service reports, timesheets, and inspection documentation
- Provide technical advice and excellent customer service on-site
- Install and commission new cranes, hoists and lifting systems
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and maintain high safety standards
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
- Uphold Gengroup's values with a commitment to safety, integrity and providing excellent technical advice
Requirements
- Valid 442A/309A Electrician license OR 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright license
- Minimum of 2 years direct experience in the overhead crane industry
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Valid Ontario "G" driver's license with a clean drivers abstract
- A team-first attitude, safety focus, and a genuine commitment to customer service
Apprenticeships
- Electrical and Millwright apprentices are welcome to apply
- Company vehicle is provided once competency is demonstrated to work independently without direct supervision

Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
- Comfortable working at heights and using fall protection equipment
- Capable of standing, bending, and working in industrial environments for extended periods
- Willingness to travel throughout Ontario
- Tolerance to varying weather conditions and industrial site environments
