The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is the largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital in Canada, as well as one of the world's leading research centres in its field. Our services are delivered to help transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addictions. Our goal is to tailor treatment to each individual, providing patient-centered, comprehensive, coordinated care. The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at CAMH is harnessing the power of high-performance computing to integrate and analyze the wealth of data generated about the brain. Our research is performed in an open science environment, with an emphasis on reproducible data-driven research and a patient-centric approach to accelerate identification and treatment of mental illness. A focus on global collaboration is key to transforming our understanding of mental health and its treatment. The Centre operates as an incubator for medical technologies to identify, manage and treat mental illness, while shaping policy at national and global levels.
The Digital Mental Health Lab at KCNI is seeking a casual Research Analyst to provide support to a variety of digital mental health research activities across the divisions of the institution and external to CAMH. This position will involve expertise and knowledge around mental health and addictions, health informatics/digital health, patient engagement, and privacy and trust. The position will require experience in qualitative design research and the ideal candidate will be capable of conducting daily tasks with minimal supervision. Primarily, a successful applicant will be responsible for supporting service design research projects, which will include literature review/desk research, data collection, data analysis, prototyping, and project reporting.
Primary responsibilities will include supporting the Principal Investigator in completing research and project related tasks, reviewing and synthesizing research literature, developing knowledge mobilization items, communicating with interprofessional stakeholders, and organizing project files, documents and reports. The candidate may also be required to assist with other administrative duties as necessary, such as setting up and running interviews and workshops, leading meetings, completing check requisitions and beyond. The individual will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (250 College Street).
Job Requirements
The successful candidate must have at minimum a bachelor's degree in a relevant field combined with 1 year of relevant research experience.
The candidate should have the following qualifications:
- Previous experience in qualitative and quantitative research with a focus on patient perspectives, digital health/AI, privacy, and trust.
- Previous research or service experience with individuals and/or families with mental health and/or addictions is preferred.
- Ability to produce design research outputs—journey maps, personas, stakeholder maps, etc.
- Previous experiences with grant writing, developing research proposals, publishing manuscripts, and knowledge mobilization
- Has experience with conducting literature searches and reviews.
- Previous experience assisting with writing and editing grant proposals, research protocols, and other reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Zotero, R, Miro, and Canva is essential.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication (oral/written) and organizational skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external knowledge users.
- The candidate will be detail-oriented, possess analytical thinking skills, and be able to exercise initiative and good judgment.
- The candidate will have the ability to multitask and produce high-quality, accurate work while meeting program deadlines.
- The candidate will have the ability to liaise across interprofessional environments both internal and external to CAMH.
- The candidate requires the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
