The Program – Respite Care Connection
The Respite Care Connection promotes, strengthens, and preserves the right for children with developmental disabilities to have a permanent home. The program works toward this goal by providing caregivers with time to take care of themselves and their other children while their child is in respite. The Respite Care Connection is a community-based program for children and youth aged 6-17 years.
The Position – Supervisor
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Supervisor provides support by overseeing the program. This role involves developing and maintaining a positive and safe work environment utilizing experiential education and a strength-based approach. The Supervisor is to create and maintain positive relationships with the community, neighbours, professionals and staff members. The Supervisor is responsible for supporting, assisting and directing staff in their work with clients.
The Program Supervisor must follow and actively support all of Enviros' policies and procedures, health and safety protocols ad legislative protocols and provide support as needed so that accreditation standard are consistently met.
Responsibilities
- Program Leadership
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers
- Establish and maintain an intake process for the program as per contract requirements
- Maintain contact with client's Case Workers/Supports/service team as needed, as well as other involved professionals
- Maintain program standards as required
- Ensure staff and teams are utilizing Enviros Principle Based Practice model
- Ensure a trauma informed care model is being utilized in service decisions
- Ensure service plans are developed, implemented, and reviewed on a regular basis
- Support access to community resources, client support, and crisis intervention
- Provide training and community resources for identified needs within the program
- Ensure program is meeting intended outcomes as outlined in contract agreement
- Ensure safety plans are completed when needed
- Ensure transition plans are developed and maintained
- Participate in agency on-call system
- Organize and maintain a safe working environment
- Other duties as required
- Enviros Leadership Team
- Actively support and develop the Enviros Strategic and Business Plan; setting goals and objectives that meet the identified targets
- Promote staff involvement within the Enviros community
- Attend Leadership Meetings as required
- Organize and chair program team meetings
- Organization and Administration
- Oversee program budget and maintain expenses in conjunction with Manager
- Ensure all program files and client paperwork has been completed
- Compile and report on outcome measures, nominal roll, monthly reports, quarterly report, annual reports, and other reports as required

Potential Risks
All programs within Enviros provide services to persons served who may be described as "person at risk" or "a vulnerable person". As a result of the situations persons served may have experienced there may be situations within our programs where person served may become aggressive, violent or lose control of their behaviours, demonstrating at risk behaviours. For all programs, Enviros has protocols to mitigate these risks including providing support and training to assist agency personnel in working through at-risk persons presentation.
Employees must be aware of the potential and inherent risks, including but not limited to physical and/or mental harm, associated with Enviros programs and this role within the agency.
Skills/ Qualifications/Experience
Weekend availability required.
- Diploma / Undergraduate Degree in Human Services
- Experience with needs assessment and supporting children & youth with complex needs (eg. ASD, FASD) as well as supporting adults and families in healthy change
- Highly organized with strong experience with various reporting tools and frameworks
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with experiential learning and strength-based practice
- A current criminal record check including vulnerable sector check (completed within the last six months)
- A current Alberta Intervention Record Check (completed in the last six months)
