At Purple Cow Internet, we are dedicated to providing affordable, reliable, and high-speed internet services. As we expand our reach, we are looking for a Senior Fiber Design Engineer to lead our team and help build resilient fiber-optic networks. This role is crucial in achieving our mission to make internet access both universal and cost-effective for all Nova Scotians.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of fiber-optic networks across urban and rural areas.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and compliance with regional regulations, including the Bell & Nova Scotia Power Make Ready process.
  • Manage and mentor a team of fiber design professionals, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Conduct field audits, oversee the creation of detailed network design plans, and ensure the accurate drafting of fiber layouts using GIS/CAD tools.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end process from initial design to the execution, including material procurement, permitting, and final as-built documentation.
  • Engage with internal OSP construction colleagues, customers and community stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure the network meets local needs.

Core Competencies:

  • Proven leadership in telecommunications network design and construction.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment in Nova Scotia, especially related to Nova Scotia Power & Bell.
  • Expertise in GIS/CAD software and fiber design methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Adaptability and creative thinking in design and strategic planning.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fiber optic network engineering.
  • Experience working in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) and familiarity with its geographical and regulatory landscape.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Electrical, Civil, or Architectural Technology, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD and other industry-related software.
  • Experience with managing teams and leading projects is essential.
  • Must possess valid NS Drivers Licence and personal vehicle for transportation.
  • Willingness to work at Company head office, to ensure collaboration with fibre group.
