ORBCOMM is seeking a seasoned Firmware Engineer with specialized expertise in RF and modem technologies to join our high-performing firmware development team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of firmware for ORBCOMM's next-generation OGx Telecommunication Network, with a strong focus on physical-layer signal processing and satellite modem functionality.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and development of firmware for ORBCOMM's OGx Telecommunication Network, with a focus on physical-layer satellite signal processing.
• Enhance, optimize, and maintain existing firmware, driving improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Provide technical leadership on the modem's physical layer, including DSP algorithm implementation for RF and satellite communication systems.
• Collaborate closely with Hardware and Systems Engineering teams to define requirements, explore solutions, and implement design objectives.
• Participate in cross-functional design discussions to ensure firmware aligns with system-level architecture and business goals.
• Contribute to firmware architecture, ensuring long-term maintainability, efficiency, and adaptability.
• Diagnose and resolve low-level firmware issues through thorough debugging and performance analysis.
• Support the broader success of the team and organization through additional responsibilities as needed.

Who You Are
You're a strategic and hands-on leader with a proven ability to own complex initiatives, mentor teams, and carry projects through with focus, expertise, and impact. If you have:

• 10+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, with a strong foundation in signal processing, RF systems, and wireless communication technologies.
• Expertise in real-time C programming and RTOS-based development for low-level embedded systems, with proven experience working in Linux environments and utilizing associated development tools.
• Strong background in digital signal processing (DSP), including algorithm design and verification using tools like MATLAB.
• Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, frequency synthesizers) and modem performance analysis.
• Proficiency with scripting languages like Python and Bash to support test automation and streamline development workflows.
• Focus on performance optimization and memory efficiency, with a deep understanding of real-time constraints in embedded environments.
• Exceptional analytical and debugging skills, with the discipline to resolve complex firmware issues at the hardware interface level.
• A clear and confident communication style, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
