  • Aerospace/avionics experience

  • Knowledge of IPC standards, knowledge of DO-160 standards

  • Basic scripting in C, Java, Python

  • Past team lead/mentorship experience

  • Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Test)

  • Experience with RF system design or embedded system integration

Job Summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a top aerospace company in Ottawa, ON.

The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing and developing advanced avionics hardware for next-generation aircraft. This individual will lead circuit design, PCB layout, and system integration efforts, collaborating closely with software and systems teams to ensure seamless performance. Cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement are key, with regular engagement across manufacturing, certification, and customer-facing teams to drive innovation and ensure compliance with aerospace standards. This role is 5x week onsite in Ottawa, ON.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of avionics hardware, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and testing.

  • Architect analog and digital circuits for embedded systems and communication interfaces.

  • Collaborate with software and firmware teams for system integration and validation.

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.

  • Support certification processes and documentation aligned with aerospace standards (e.g., DO-254, DO-160).

  • Investigate and resolve complex field issues and product failures.
