The Food Centre has two job openings for the Food Crop Quality Technician. This position will assist the Food Crop Quality Team in analyzing whole seeds and flours of a series of food-grade crops. Training will be provided.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Safely operate various analytical instruments, such as protein analyzer, texture analyzer, HPLC, RVA, NIR, mastersizer, rotary evaporator, spectrophotometer, mill, muffle furnace, oven, water bath, hot plates, and analytical balances.
  • Laboratory work and data record-keeping.
  • Read and accurately follow operating manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Candidates should have attention to detail and be able to report any new findings, discrepancies, or errors in the experiments.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 22.3 kg.
  • Follow established QA/QC standards at the Food Centre.

Qualifications:

  • A diploma, bachelor's, or master's degree in Food Science or related fields is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience analyzing seed quality, flour composition, and functional properties are preferred.
  • Other required skills: good communication, writing skills, computer knowledge, and efficient experiment planning.
