Who is a Systems and Network Administrator?

The Systems and Network Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This role ensures that these systems and related procedures adhere to organizational policy. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the computing infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners.

What will you be doing?

• Responsible for Azure Cloud Platform administration, including provisioning, configuring, and managing Azure resources (VMs, storage accounts, networking, databases, etc.) and integrating on-premises AD with Azure AD for hybrid identity scenarios
• Monitors resource utilization and optimizes costs using Azure Cost Management tools.
• Identity & Access Management: Administers Azure Active Directory (AAD), including user/group management, RBAC, and conditional access policies.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Azure CLI templates; uses Automation and Logic Apps to streamline routine tasks and incident response.
• Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity: Configure and manage Azure Backup and Site Recovery; test and document recovery procedures for critical workloads.
• Networking: Design and manage Azure virtual networks, VPN gateways, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity solutions; implements secure connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure cloud resources.
• Maintain and configures networks and systems, supports network servers, virtualization, and client devices, and manages the VoIP system.
• Maintain the IT knowledgebase, including IT procedures, network diagrams, technical support models, software update deployment processes, and IT assets.
• Cybersecurity Compliance: Identify and address security vulnerabilities; implement Azure security best practices including NSGs, firewalls, encryption, and secure access policies.
• Security Monitoring: Monitor alerts and compliance using Azure Security Center and Defender for Cloud.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Set up and manage Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights; troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and availability issues in Azure-hosted services.
• Governance & Policy: Apply Azure Policy and Blueprints to enforce organizational standards; maintain documentation of Azure environments, configurations, operational procedures, vulnerability management, and failover processes.
• Technical Support: Provide end-user support by evaluating, prioritizing, and resolving issues with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies; ensure timely resolution within defined SLAs and escalate issues as needed. Must be available for on-site support and on-call response during emergencies and critical system-down situations.
• Software Updates & Patch Management: Deploy software updates for infrastructure devices, including patchable vulnerabilities; use canfitpro's software deployment and vulnerability management tools.
• IT Asset Management: Manage and monitor IT assets to ensure accurate inventory records; log and maintain asset details in canfitpro's ITSM solution.
• Hybrid Schedule: In-office presence required 2 days per week at our Home Office (225 Select Avenue, Scarborough).

Who You Are?

• Associate or bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, System Administration, or equivalent certification / qualification

• Systems administration/networking certification preferred

• 3 - 5 years of systems administration experience

• Working knowledge of virtualization, Hyper-V or equivalent

• Working knowledge of public cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services

• Experience with IT ticketing systems

• Strong knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server database management and reporting (SSRS)

• Experience working in an IT Service Management (ITSM) oriented environment such as ITIL

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills (must be able to clearly report and document resolutions in detail)

• Excellent customer service skills

• Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills

• Ability to act individually and work together with others as part of a team
