Motor Shop Manager

Martech Motor Winding Ltd. is looking to hire a Motor Shop Manager to join our Castlegar, BC operationsJoin our team and play a key leadership role in driving efficient, high-quality operations within our motor shop. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manager to oversee daily workflows, guide a skilled team, and support continuous improvement across all operational, financial, and customer-service functions.

Martech Motor Winding is an electric motor repair and rewind facility that has supported industrial, commercial, and residential clients throughout the West Kootenays and BC Interior for over 30 years. We offer additional services in the fields of pump repairs, welding machine repairs, and standby generators.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Daily Operations Oversight

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day shop activities to ensure efficient and on-time operations

• Maintain ongoing communication with the Shop Foreman, staff, vendors, and internal departments

• Ensure workflows, schedules, and operations align with budgets and company standards

Process Improvement & Quality Control

• Identify inefficiencies and implement best practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste

• Monitor and improve shop quality, accuracy, and overall operational effectiveness

• Collect and analyze performance data to reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and support excellent customer service

Financial & Resource Management

• Oversee operational budgets, monitor financial performance, and control costs

• Work closely with Accounts Payable and oversee Accounts Receivable processes

• Manage inventory, materials, and supply chain coordination

Compliance & Safety

• Collaborate with the Safety Department to ensure all operations meet regulatory, compliance, and internal safety standards

Staff Leadership & Development

• Oversee hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations

• Working with the 1003 Union, translating union agreements, and ensuring full adherence to all contractual requirements

• Set clear performance expectations and provide coaching, development, and support

• Foster a positive, productive, and accountable team environment

Problem Solving & Risk Management

• Resolve operational issues and conflicts efficiently and professionally

• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and support business continuity

Sales & Customer Relations

• Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact to quote, proposal, and closing

• Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer data

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support repeat business and service excellence

• Other duties as required by the department.

Job Details:

• Full-Time position

• The role is based out of our 1700 Woodland Drive, Castlegar BC facility.

• Schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00AM – 3:30PM (40 hours a week)

• Compensation based on experience, training, and education

• Benefits available after probationary period

Job Requirements:

• Proven management or supervisory experience; Preferably motor shop, industrial, manufacturing, or related environment

• Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset

• Strong leadership abilities with experience coaching, developing, and managing teams

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Exceptional organizational, time-management, and project-management abilities

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, SAGE 300, and related business/asset-management software

• Must be eligible to work in Canada
