The Innovation, Privacy, and Policy division in Technology and Innovation, oversees the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy, protects personal information, guides the ethical use of data, and manages the Ministry's policy and legislative coordination and mission planning. We advance strategies and policies for data delivery, content management, and privacy-related programs, ensuring responsible governance for Alberta Innovates and the Alberta Enterprise Corporation. The Privacy, Policy and Governance Branch leads the development and enhancement of policy instruments for data, information, technology, and privacy. It provides governance support, training, and compliance oversight, while also leading legislative and policy planning, and intergovernmental relations.
*Role Responsibilities*
Reporting to the Executive Director of Privacy, Policy and Governance, the Branch Coordination and Issues Advisor works closely with the Executive Director and branch leadership to manage critical and emerging issues through project management, strategic communication, and issues management.
The Responsibilities Of This Role Include
- Developing and implementing project plans, monitoring progress, mitigating risks, and ensuring timely delivery of initiatives.
- Overseeing reporting and tracking, including major initiatives and weekly situation reports.
- Coordinating internal and external communications, ensuring timely responses, and effective information flow.
- Collaborating on branch priorities and operational plans, including quarterly updates, meetings, and strategic reviews.
- Researching and evaluating critical issues; preparing accurate briefings; and recommending strategies for resolution.
- Represent the Executive Director at meetings and committees when required.

Qualifications
Requirements
:
- Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Political Science, Communications or a related field supplemented by at least four (4) years of experience managing projects and/or policy writing.
- Proven experience preparing briefings, reports, and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring project plans.
- Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage complex tasks with minimal supervision.
Equivalencies
- A related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; or
- A related one-year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; or
- A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.
Assets
- Understanding of government decision-making processes and governance structures.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Protection of Privacy Act, Access to Information Act, Personal Information Protection Act, the Electronic Transactions Act and related regulations and policies.

This position is eligible for remote work. You must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
