Live At Home Care is a trusted North Vancouver-based provider of personalized senior care, empowering older adults to live independently with dignity. We deliver compassionate services, including personal care (bathing, dressing), Alzheimer's and dementia support, companionship, basic nursing, IT/tech support, and pet care, to clients in their homes and assisted/independent living facilities across Greater Vancouver. As we expand partnerships with local senior residences, we're seeking dedicated Health Care Assistants (HCAs) to join our team as independent contractors.

Role Overview

As an HCA contractor, you'll provide high-quality, client-centered care to seniors, supporting their daily needs and enhancing their quality of life. You'll work flexibly in homes or facilities, delivering services like mobility assistance, dementia care, or pet care. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper body mechanics and equipment.
• Encourage and assist with prescribed exercises and daily activities.
• Prepare nutritious meals, assist with feeding, and monitor hydration.
• Provide companionship, emotional support, and social engagement.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, such as laundry, tidying, and maintaining a clean environment.
• Observe, document, and report any changes in the client's physical or mental condition to the care team.
• Accompany clients to appointments and on outings as needed.

Qualifications and Required Documents

To ensure compliance and quality, candidates must provide:

• Valid HCA Certificate: From a BC-recognized program (e.g., BCIT, Sprott Shaw), verifiable via BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
• Criminal Record Check: Current (within 5 years) via BC's Criminal Records Review Program.
• Liability Insurance: Proof of personal coverage or willingness to obtain.
• WorkSafeBC Clearance: Letter or registration number confirming coverage or exemption.
• GST/HST Registration: If annual income exceeds $30,000, provide GST number.
• First Aid/CPR Certification: Valid Level C CPR or Basic First Aid.
• Vaccination Record: Proof of flu/COVID-19 vaccinations or exemption, per health authority standards.
• References: 2 professional references from prior care roles.
• Experience in senior care (1+ years preferred), especially dementia or pet care.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; tech-savvy a plus.

Contractor Details

• Rate: $31/hour, paid biweekly via invoice (no benefits, EI, or CPP provided).
• Hours: Flexible, 10-30 hours/week, based on client needs and your availability.
• Status: Independent contractor; you manage your own taxes, insurance, and GST (if applicable).
• Contract: Signed agreement required, outlining scope and responsibilities.
