About the opportunity:
As the Chief Communications Officer, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, supervision, and administration of the Fire Operations Communications Centre (FOCC). In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison for one hundred (100) fire departments and rescue agencies across the 9-1-1 and fire rescue service area supported by the FOCC, ensuring effective dispatch and operational communications services. You will also work closely with local governments, providing expertise and guidance related to fire rescue operations, support services, communication systems, and associated resource materials.
About your background:
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in public safety communications, dispatch, and support services, along with a strong foundational understanding of fire, police, and ambulance operations. Working knowledge of fire rescue operations is preferred. Candidates should also have at least five (5) years of supervisory experience, preferably within a unionized environment. A Grade 12 diploma is required, as well as the successful completion of accredited post-secondary coursework in business and/or leadership. A related post-secondary degree or diploma is desirable. Experience working with and troubleshooting computer and public safety communications technologies-including Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) systems and Records Management Systems (RMS) is essential.
