Shipping Assistant

We're working with ADAM Integrated Industries to help them find a Shipping Assistant.

Position Summary:

We seek an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Shipping /Receiving Department as a Shipping Assistant. In this position, you will play a critical role in performing typical shipping tasks, including packing, labelling, arranging transportation, and tracking shipments to their destinations. You will also ensure that the correct items are shipped, verify shipping information, and will operate equipment to pick, move, and load goods. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What you do:

• Prepare items for shipment by packaging them securely and applying accurate labels with shipping information.
• Effectively use hand and power tools, and operate job-related equipment.
• Monitor the progress of shipments and provide updates on their status to relevant parties.
• This position works outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ensure that all shipping details, including addresses and delivery instructions, are accurate.
• Utilize forklifts, hand trucks, or other equipment to load, unload, and move goods within the shipping area.
• Send shipping notices to clients via Sales ahead of the actual ship dates.
• Keep accurate logs and records of all outgoing shipments, including the creation and filing of BOLs, TDG, and other transport-related documents.
• Proactively make suggestions for process improvements and assist in their implementation.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Work in a structured organization with minimal supervision and a positive attitude.
• Maintain positive working relationships with other company employees.
• Attend training sessions and workshops when required to enhance knowledge and skills related to the job.

What you bring:

• A high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 1+ years of related experience.
• A valid and clean Class 5 driver's license (a Class 1 license or air brake certification is beneficial, but not mandatory).
• The ability to be trained and certified to operate powered forklifts safely.
• Attention to Detail: You always dot your i's and cross your t's.
• You can handle many tasks at the same time and meet deadlines, while keeping cool.
• Great communication skills in English – you listen first, then share knowledge. This goes for both speaking and writing.
• You can handle the physical demands of lifting, moving, and packing items.
• Practical experience with Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook.
• You have experience with ERP software or are willing to learn if you haven't yet.
• You're approachable, positive and enthusiastic.
• A good team player attitude, even when things get a little crazy. But you're just as comfortable working solo.
• You are tactful, diplomatic, and able to keep information confidential.
• Flexibility to work overtime if required.
