Senior Technical Business Analyst (Finance / Cash Management)

Location:
Waterloo, Ontario (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Duration:
9-month contract (possibility of extension)

About the Role

We are seeking a
Senior Technical Business Analyst
with strong expertise in
financial services
,
cash management
, and
payment messaging
. This role is critical in bridging the gap between clients, development, and support teams throughout the entire project lifecycle—from conception to production delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand client business needs related to cash management and payments, translating them into functional specifications and operational workflows.
  • Design user experiences, recommend operational flows, and identify reference data requirements.
  • Map alternative data collection methods to streamline processes.
  • Review, write, and update detailed business requirements, functional specifications, and business process documents.
  • Define and document system interfaces within application subsystems.
  • Take ownership of projects from conception to deployment, ensuring solutions meet business needs and client expectations.
  • Support clients post-implementation through onboarding, training, and ongoing support, fostering long-term relationships.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of
    7+ years of experience
    in a Business Analyst role within financial services, corporate treasury, or payments industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of payment messaging standards such as
    EDI, EFT, ACH, SWIFT, FED
    , with
    familiarity with ISO20022 formats
    for payments.
  • Strong knowledge of payment processes & SWIFT
    is a distinct advantage.
  • Proven ability to identify and simplify complex processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in client-facing roles.
  • Experience with applications supporting financial services, payments, cash management, lending, or corporate treasury.
