We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our Individual Wealth IT team In this role, the successful candidate will be a highly analytical specialist, responsible for both business and technical analysis, focused on bringing efficiency and business value to various business teams utilizing components of Equitable's capture, imaging, and business process automation solutions.

Senior Business Systems Analyst, Digital

Reports To:
Senior Technology Manager, Digital

Department:
IT Individual Wealth

Term:
Temporary Full-Time, Twelve (12) Month Contract

Work Arrangements:
This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide systems analysis, problem solving and documentation for medium to large workflow/automation requests and projects in support critical business objectives
  • Engage and collaborate closely with our business partners, Development team members and other IT groups to successfully define solution specifications which align to the business needs and enhance the client experience
  • Triage various enhancement requests across the enterprise of business teams and decipher business value and determine prioritization
  • Provide leadership to team members and peers by collaborating with others and holding self and team accountable for results
  • Ensure that all projects delivered meet the established organization standards and audit controls
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of business domains and their products/services
  • Identify process improvements opportunities proactively
  • Help ensure a solid solution is delivered that meets the stakeholders' needs
  • Assist in quality assurance testing, including creation and execution of test strategies, test plans, executing test cases and defect management

What you will bring:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Business Systems Analyst role
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in insurance or financial services industry
  • CCBA or CBAP or working towards designation
  • Previous Business Analyst and Quality Assurance experience
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Waterfall and/or Agile methodology experience
  • Experience with Case Management and Business Process Automation solutions.
  • Strong analytical ability to apply critical thinking and high attention to evidence-based details, and keen observation/reasoning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to clearly articulate complicated ideas, and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Experience writing functional requirements, use cases and process flows
  • Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment. Strong interpersonal and partnership building skills; can reach out and engage a variety of individuals
  • Experience in the use of analytical/modeling tools for both processes and data
  • In-depth understanding of the overall system development methodology
  • In-depth understanding of insurance business concepts, typical supporting systems, architecture, procedures, and functions
  • In-depth understanding of application infrastructure, database and technical platforms
  • Experience and/or proficient in many of the following:
  • System Design and workflow concepts
  • Web and client/server architectures
  • Knowledge of database design
  • Test Management tools (Azure Test Plans, other QA tools)
  • MS Office Tools including Microsoft Access, Visio & Excel
  • Working knowledge of SQL, C#, .Net and SOAP or REST APIs
  • Knowledge and Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban
  • Exposure to CI/DevOps
  • Code analysis for the purpose of understanding system functionality
