The Ministry of Justice is seeking an innovative, client service orientated individual to promote positive growth as a Cultural and Community Coordinator in the Saskatoon Correctional Center. We are seeking an individual to develop, coordinate, implement and maintain the facility's cultural services and liaise with the community to provide positive leadership and direction.
This is a multi-security level institution located in/near Saskatoon Saskatchewan for adult offenders who are sentenced to a term of imprisonment of two years less one day or remanded into custody by the Court. As a Cultural and Community Coordinator, you will develop static and dynamic security processes that bridge the cultural activities in the facility and community. In partnership with the provincial Director of First Nations and Métis Services, you will develop, coordinate, implement and facilitate cultural and spiritual programming that enhances and promotes First Nations and Métis values and traditions. As a member of a provincial team, you will provide cultural and spiritual advice in policy and program development and will lead, guide, direct and support staff and clients in cultural awareness and tradition. We are seeking a candidate who has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills in order to develop and maintain professional relationships with a diverse range of individuals and the community; someone who can lead the development and implementation of partnerships and meaningful service agreements. Your responsibilities will also include human resource management, budget management, policy development and case management.
The ability to speak an aboriginal language would be an asset in this position. A strong emphasis on the understanding and practice of First Nations culture is required to properly address programming requirements. You must have knowledge of First Nations and Métis community resources and services; Cultural protocols and beliefs; and indicators and dynamics of addictions, poverty, family relationships, abuse and neglect and the history that impact on First Nations and Métis people, families and communities. And, you must have experience assessing, developing, maintaining, implementing and adjusting case plans in collaboration with clients and others to establish goals and meets needs.
In this position, you must model and demonstrate a commitment to the Ministry of Justice mandate to provide a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government.
