Position Summary

We are looking for a General Accountant to join our team and contribute to our purpose and standard of excellence while building homes for people today and the generations of tomorrow by performing day-to-day accounting support for real estate development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Accountants for full accounting cycle for a portfolio of land development projects;
  • Enter accounting transactions for payables, receivables, bank transactions, journal entries, lot sales and letters of credit;
  • Prepare bank deposits and monthly payments, and process remote cheque deposits;
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations;
  • Prepare and file government remittances;
  • Maintain schedules to track project term deposits and term CORRA;
  • Prepare monthly bank reporting packages;
  • Ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls;
  • Respond to ad hoc inquiries as required;
  • Ensure and enforce compliance to all company and legislated Safety policies and procedures;
  • Any additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel;
  • Strong mathematical ability;
  • Team player;
  • Stress tolerance due to fluctuations in workload – sometimes requiring overtime hours.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of College, University or other business administration courses required;
  • 1 -3 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting required.
  • Real Estate industry experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Typical office hours:  Monday to Friday – 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.  Additional hours may be required.
  • Light to infrequently moderate physical effort.  Requires handling of light and moderate weight objects including office equipment and other office supplies and, frequently, sitting for prolonged periods of time while using the telephone and computer.

  • For this position the Salary range: Minimum  $55,000 Maximum $70,000
