About the Role

As the Cyber Information Security Lead at LNG Canada, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our cyber security landscape, driving strategic direction, and developing a framework necessary to protect the organization's information assets. This is a high-impact, leadership position within our company, ideal for a visionary security professional who will not only respond to today's cyber threats but will also anticipate future challenges in the evolving energy sector and to prepare the organization with the right tools, skills, resources, relationships, and capabilities against growing information security risks. With one of the most digitally connected assets, this role requires a heightened focus on proactive threat intelligence, secure remote operations, and IT-OT convergence.

You will use your expertise to:
Cyber Security Strategy Development: Lead the development and execution of a multi-year cyber security strategy and roadmap, aligned with LNG Canada's overall business objectives and regulatory requirements. Shape the organization's cyber security framework to anticipate and respond to both current and emerging threats in the energy industry. Define and maintain a comprehensive risk management strategy, ensuring resilience against cyber threats while balancing business priorities.
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the trusted advisor and thought leader on cyber security for executive leadership, providing regular updates on strategic initiatives, risks, and investments. Engage with key internal stakeholders across all levels of the organization, building strong relationships to ensure alignment on security initiatives. Manage and mentor the cyber security team, nurturing a culture of security across the organization and promoting professional development.
Regulatory and Compliance Management: Act as the primary liaison for regulatory bodies, ensuring the company's compliance with relevant cyber security standards, including NERC CIP, GDPR, and other energy sector regulations. Lead audits and initiatives to enhance compliance, demonstrating strong cyber security practices and regulatory adherence.
Incident Response and Cyber Resilience Testing: Develop a rigorous incident response program, conducting regular resilience testing, simulated cyber-attack exercises, and continuous vulnerability assessments. Lead organization-wide preparedness for cyber incidents, ensuring the asset's defenses are robust and responsive to real-world threats.
Education and Culture Development: Create an enterprise-wide cyber security awareness program, embedding a culture of security across the organization. Foster an environment of continuous improvement and learning, supporting cyber hygiene across all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Management:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing cyber security team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.
- Develop talent within the team by identifying skill gaps, providing training opportunities, and supporting career progression to ensure team members are equipped to handle evolving cyber threats.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration within the company, ensuring that cyber security priorities are integrated into IT initiatives, and that the team remains agile and responsive to business needs.
Financial Management:
- Define, manage, and justify the cyber security budget, aligning expenditures with strategic goals and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
- Evaluate and prioritize cyber security investments to ensure maximum impact on risk reduction, operational efficiency, and cyber resilience.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to assess ROI for security initiatives and maintain accountability for cost control, balancing proactive security investments with efficient operational management.
Strategic Contract and Vendor Management:
- Develop and manage strategic partnerships with key security vendors and third-party providers to leverage best-in-class tools and services that align with the company's cyber security objectives.
- Lead contract negotiations for cyber security services, tools, and solutions, ensuring agreements provide value and accountability in performance standards and service levels.
- Oversee vendor performance and ensure that third-party services are meeting agreed-upon SLAs, fostering a proactive approach to vendor engagement, and holding partners accountable for results.
- Regularly evaluate vendor solutions, ensuring they continue to meet evolving security requirements and provide the best-fit technology solutions for the organization's needs.
To be successful, you will have:
Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT experience and 10+ years in Cyber Security.
Minimum Education or Certification: 4-year Degree related to IT or equivalent.
Certifications preferred CISM, CISSP.
Broad experience with Business IT, Network, Infrastructure, Application Management and development.
Solid understanding of the key compliance and regulatory standards in Information Security and Compliance.
Competency and familiarity with the IT Controls Framework, Information Risk Management practices and processes.
Good knowledge of Audit requirements and practices.
Ability to build and lead high performing IT natural teams, including multiple third parties, aligned around driving greater business value.
Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
A continuous improvement mindset to drive operations of the future.
Ability to build strong collaborative partnerships with senior business stakeholders.
Resilience, courage and the willingness to challenge and manage business expectations.
This role requires that you:
Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
Periodic domestic travel is expected to Kitimat.
