Job Description:

Grindstone Theatre Society is seeking part time casual Bartender/Servers to join our team This position is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Grindstone bars including: patio, indoor and festival bars, as well as may be involved in supporting some exterior pop-up food and beverage service for outdoor events. The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized and creative individual with experience in customer service, bartending and leadership or management positions.

Bartending Duties:

  • Provide professional and speedy food and beverage service to patrons as they enter.
  • Memorization of The Grindstone menu, beer list, current wines, cocktails and cocktail recipes.
  • Ability to provide food and liquor suggestions for clients based on their interests and your own alcohol knowledge.
  • Ensure high quality food and drink is being provided to customers in a timely fashion and provide excellent customer service at all times.

Opening Duties:

  • Count the cash drawer and note the float count on the designated sheet.
  • Ensure the space is mopped, cleaned and ready before patrons enter the space.
  • Review the show schedule for the evening.
  • Ensure bathrooms are stocked and clean for the evening.
  • Prep work stations accordingly.

Cash Out & Duties:

  • Lock and close the front door after all the patrons have left.
  • Nightly cleaning duties including: bathrooms, garbages, restock, dishes etc
  • Count till and note on the designated sheet.
  • Remove income for the evening and put in a labelled envelope with date, your first and last name and total income in the envelope. Drop in safe once completed.

Box Office Duties:

  • Box office operation and organization (all servers at The Grindstone must operate our Showpass ticketing system and sell tickets to guests)

General Duties:

  • Bistro cleaning and restocked daily.
  • General cleaning/upkeep duties throughout shift.
  • Communicating any issues or things to note to your direct superior.
  • Attending staff meetings with the Bistro team.
  • Weekly and daily cleaning duties.
  • Report directly to the Bar Manager.
  • Awareness of the entire Grindstone space and understanding of the shows and events that happen in the space with the ability to communicate to customers about Grindstone Theatre Society and the happenings in our spaces.
  • Additional duties as required.

(option to also pick up shifts at festival concessions, event concessions and Orange Hub Concession)

Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of Restaurant experience
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills. Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships.
  • AGLC Pro-Serve (Pro-Tect suggested)
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to keep a cool head under pressure.
  • Self-directed with the ability to take initiative.
  • Cocktail and alcohol service training and/or passion is a bonus (can be trained).
  • Experience working with cash, tills and transactions.
  • Experience with Touch Bistro is an asset.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00-$21.83 per hour
