Job functions

  • Operational Leadership
  • Lead and coordinate dock and warehouse staff during the afternoon shift

Linehaul & Time-Sensitive Operations

  • Understand and manage the urgency of sensitive LTL linehaul operations
  • Ensure freight is staged, loaded, and released to meet strict departure times
  • Respond quickly to delays, volume fluctuations, and last-minute changes
  • Minimize service failures, misloads, and missed linehaul connections

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Ensure proper forklift operation and safe freight handling practices
  • Identify and report safety concerns, incidents, or near misses
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock environment

Quality, Accuracy & Productivity

  • Monitor freight handling to prevent damages and claims
  • Ensure accurate freight flow, scanning, and documentation
  • Drive productivity while maintaining service and safety standards
  • Address operational issues in real time to keep freight moving

Communication & Team Support

  • Communicate priorities, changes, and expectations clearly to the team
  • Coordinate with dispatch, customer service, and linehaul drivers
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
  • Set expectations for attendance, performance, and professionalism
  • Assign and prioritize work based on service commitments and linehaul cut-off times
  • Act as the primary point of contact for operational issues during the shift
  • Support supervisor by ensuring execution of daily operational plans

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a transportation LTL environment
  • Strong understanding of dock operations, freight flow, and linehaul timing
  • Computer literate, with experience using TMS, scanning systems, or warehouse software
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ever-changing trucking environments
  • Proven ability to lead by example and make sound operational decisions under pressure
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and operate equipment for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse and dock environment
