We are currently seeking a Emergency Response and Security Management Intern for a 12 month term starting January 5, 2026. This role is perfect for candidates with strong communication and organizational skills who thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

What you will learn

  • Gain an understanding the Plains Emergency and Security Management Programs & regulatory requirements in order to support maintenance of these programs:
  • Support the development and execution of emergency response and security exercises and training
  • This may require travel in Canada (about 15% of time) and to the USA
  • Lead the delivery of select Environmental Emergency (E2) exercises in Canada
  • Complete post exercise and training reports (After Action Reports)
  • Post and track action items in tracking software
  • Support and maintain updates to Emergency Response Plans (ERP's)
  • Conduct internal assurance activities as required by the Programs
  • Gain knowledge of the Incident Command System and be able to use it in exercises and training
  • Develop the ability to use the tools, resources and forms required for emergency response
  • Complete and present assigned projects, showcasing your learning and contributions
  • Tackle ad-hoc analytical assignments and reporting, gaining versatile analytical experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to second, third, or fourth year students enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary institution, working towards a bachelors degree in the field of environmental science, emergency management or a related educational field;
  • You will not graduate from your current bachelor's program prior to the end date of this internship.
  • Ability to commit to a 12-month work term starting January 5, 2026
  • Past entry level work experience doing customer service or relevant internships are considered an asset.
  • Experience working with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint, and Outlook).
  • Willingness to relocate to Calgary for the entire duration of the term.
  • Ability to provide three satisfactory references from past managers/teachers and pass a Criminal Background Check.
