Outside Sales Representative – Corrugated Packaging Solutions

As an Outside Sales Representative, you will focus primarily on new business development while managing a book of existing accounts within the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions such as Burlington and Hamilton. This role requires a hunter mentality and building relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and food packaging clients. The position offers a competitive base salary range of $75,000 to $90,000, with uncapped commissions, a monthly car allowance and other perks
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Base Salary: $75,000–$85,000 plus uncapped commission
- First Year OTE: $120,000–$130,000 (potentially higher for strong performers)
- Commission: Uncapped, residual; % of gross profit, paid monthly

THE COMPANY & CULTURE:
Our client is a well-established packaging and distribution provider with over 35 years of industry presence. They operate a 200,000 sq. ft. facility in the GTA, offering packaging distribution, foam fabrication, digital printing, die cutting, co-packing, and fulfillment services. The company fosters a people-first, growth-oriented culture with long-tenured employees (10–30 years) and strong vendor relationships.
OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY:
- Head Office: Brampton, Ontario
Work Model: Hybrid in-field role (not work-from-home).
Reps are expected to be in the field with clients around 50–60% of the time.
During the first 90–120 days, more frequent in-office presence is required for in-person onboarding and training.
After ramp-up, flexibility increases based on performance and schedule.
Office visits are expected as needed for quoting, samples, and collaboration — regular weekly presence is preferred but not mandatory.
- Sales Territory: Primarily GTA (no fixed geography)
EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of sales experience (outside sales preferred)
- Experience in manufacturing, packaging, or distribution industries
- Background in food manufacturing or food distribution sales is an asset
- Experience with industrial or office supplies sales also will be considered
- Proven success in new business development and account management
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Excel – Basic

- Word – Basic
THE PRODUCT / SERVICE / SOLUTION:
- Corrugated packaging, foam, labels, thermoforming, flexible food packaging films, equipment, jan-san supplies, and chemicals
- Value-added solutions: co-packing, fulfillment, digital printing, automation, and tailored packaging programs
PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS / INDUSTRY FOCUS / DECISION-MAKER(S):
- Industries: Food manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, pharma, e-commerce, 3PL
- Decision Makers: Purchasing managers, mid-management, VP/Directors
SALES CYCLE / ORDER VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE:
- Average order: $500
- Typical account: $25K/year
- Sales cycle: 1–4 weeks
- Average touches to close: 4–6
LEADS:
- 100% prospecting/creating own list – reps are expected to build their own pipeline
- There are some warm leads from corporate (website inquiries, shared across reps)
- The sales model is heavily weighted to cold calling initially when building a client base, knocking on doors, and field prospecting
- New hires will inherit some accounts but are expected to focus on driving new business growth.
