The position of Parking Attendant is responsible for providing frontline parking services in designated parking areas during daily operations and REAL District events.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Maintains orderly parking facilities by:
- Communicating verbally and non-verbally (gestures) with drivers to direct vehicles to appropriate parking areas.
- Controlling access to reserved parking areas.
- Ensuring drivers obey posted signage for parking restrictions (no parking, accessible parking etc.).
- Ensuring drivers park in a way that does not obstruct roadways or block in other vehicles.
- Controlling traffic flow during event egress to minimize egress times.
Contributes to safe parking facilities by:
- Identifying suspected impaired drivers and intervening where appropriate to offer alternative transportation options.
- Notifying the Command Centre of suspected impaired drivers in control of vehicles for reporting to law enforcement and communicating vehicle information and direction of travel.
- Reporting any observed disruptive, undesirable or criminal behaviour to the supervisor.
- Notifying the Command Centre for activation of first responders in the event of an emergency.
Provides support to Security Operations by:
- Assisting with the setup and teardown of temporary parking infrastructure (e.g., signs, pylons, and lightweight barricades).
- Ensuring parking operations are conducted in compliance with all REAL policies and procedures.
- Documenting reportable incidents through accurate note-taking and report writing.
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Wage: $15.35
*Please note, that this is a casual position and you will be scheduled as per the needs of the business.*
RequirementsWHAT IT TAKES

Education and Experience
- Grade 12 education or GED is preferred.
- Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
- Formal training and/or work experience in parking operations is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in customer service.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision making skills.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
- Ability to handle escalated verbal confrontations.
Other
- The successful candidate must also possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRC).
*Note that this position is an in-scope position under the RWDSU Collective Agreement.
