Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada Summit Valve and Controls Full time

Make an Impact Where It Matters Most

Are you ready to take your technical expertise into the field and make a real impact?

As a Field Service and Automation Technician at Summit Valve, you'll be at the forefront of industrial innovation, working hands-on with large-scale valve systems that power critical infrastructure across Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan. This role offers a mix of exciting field service assignments primarily across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, and cutting-edge in-house automation work at our Port Coquitlam facility.

Reporting directly to our Service Manager in Alberta, you'll be a key player in supporting both our Technical Services and Inside Sales teams. You'll provide expert, hands-on technical support to internal stakeholders and valued clients, ensuring the performance and reliability of Summit's industry-leading products.

This is more than just a service role. You'll be a trusted technical advisor, a problem-solver, and a key contributor to our customer success. Whether you're installing and commissioning complex valve assemblies, diagnosing and repairing high-pressure systems, or collaborating with engineering teams to refine product performance, your work will directly support industries that keep our communities running.

You'll thrive in a fast-paced, adaptive environment where no two days are the same. From remote field sites to high-tech workshops, you'll tackle challenges head-on, using cutting-edge tools and your own ingenuity. You'll also play a vital role in training clients, supporting internal teams, and continuously learning to stay ahead of industry standards like API, ASME, CSA, and OSHA.

If you're passionate about mechanical systems, enjoy travel and fieldwork, and want to be part of a team that values excellence, safety, and growth, this is the opportunity for you..

Key Responsibilities include

  • Assemble and test automated valve systems and accessories in our Port Coquitlam shop, ensuring precision and reliability in every build.
  • Provide expert on-site support for municipal as well as industrial water infrastructure, including installation, diagnostics, and maintenance of valve products.
  • Deliver hands-on training and technical guidance to clients. EOCP trainer certification can be obtained to support formal instruction.
  • Lead or assist in the installation and commissioning of municipal and industrial valve products, ensuring systems meet performance and safety standards.
  • Maintain service truck and shop inventory to ensure readiness for field and repair tasks. Keep tools and parts organized and stocked.
  • Work closely with the sales team to support customer projects, provide technical insights, and help deliver tailored solutions.

  • Capable of standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing for extended periods during field service activities.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and technical software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company-provided service truck.
