Facilities Management's customers include Deans, departments, faculty, staff, and students. The department's branches work together as a team to ensure a high standard of customer service delivery, as well as the effective, efficient, and safe performance for the operation, development, and maintenance of campus buildings.Reporting to the Administrative Officer, the Staffing and Payroll Clerk performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of Facilities Management. The Staffing and Payroll Clerk is responsible for reconciling department leave and payroll data, processing forms for payroll changes, and assisting the Administrative Officer in the recruitment process.The work environment may have occasional distractions, requiring the incumbent to maintain a high level of concentration and accuracy amidst such conditions.Job RequirementsExperience:This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to 2 years' experience working within a comparable environment.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.Ability to prioritize and manage time and tasks with attention to detail.Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences.Experience composing various business communications such as emails, letters, and reports.Experience in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.Proficiency with computer applications (i.e., MS-Office Suite, Adobe Create Suite, content management systems).Excellent clerical skills including accurate keyboarding/touch typing.Concentration and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments.Specialized Knowledge/Education:Previous experience with Banner HR system considered an asset.Working knowledge of payroll and office procedures considered and asset.Territory Acknowledgement: We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.Equity Statement: UVic is committed to upholding the values of equity, diversity, inclusion and human rights in our living, learning and work environments.
