As Western Canada's leading venue for live events, we host a year-round schedule of sporting events, concerts, consumer shows and more each year while also supporting the community through an array of ongoing partnerships and initiatives.

BC Place is gearing up for one of the most significant sporting events in its history: hosting matches for the FIFA World Cup in 2026. To help deliver an exceptional experience on a global stage, we are recruiting a temporary Assistant Manager, Environmental Services to join our Event Operations team.

This is a full-time temporary position specifically tied to FIFA-related operations and is expected to conclude September 2026.

This is a rare opportunity to help lead the stadium's Environmental Services operations during a once-in-a-generation event. Your work will directly support the guest experience for fans from around the world and help showcase BC Place as a world-class venue.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Event Operations & Readiness

  • Lead end-to-end Environmental Services Operations for match days, non-match days, and special FIFA functions.
  • Develop and execute pre-event, event-time, and post-event cleaning plans aligned with FIFA Venue Operations Manuals.
  • Ensure all areas are match-ready, broadcast-ready, and safety-compliant within strict turnaround timelines.
  • Ensure all department activities support the mission, vision and values of BC Place Stadium.

Workforce Leadership & Staffing

  • Manage large, diverse teams including full-time and event-time staff, and contractors.
  • Develop staffing models and deployment plans for high attendance matches and quick turnarounds.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, and day-to-day staff deployments.
  • Deliver training on FIFA service standards, hygiene protocols, and emergency response.
  • Ensure staff follow all BC Place policies, procedures, safety standards, and relevant legislation.
  • Help identify risks and support emergency response planning to ensure a safe environment for all.
  • Oversee on-site operations during events, troubleshoot issues, and support staff in real time.
  • Collaborate as a member of the management team in a group environment through personal behavior, work contributions and sharing of expertise and knowledge.
  • Support post-event evaluation by gathering feedback, reviewing performance, and recommending improvements.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and consistent work environment through coaching, guidance, and positive leadership.

Sustainability & Waste Management

  • Lead venue waste diversion programs.
  • Monitor waste streams and contamination levels.
  • Collaborate with sustainability teams to support FIFA and LEED certification.
  • Track KPIs related to waste reduction, landfill diversion, and post-event reporting.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Environmental Services, Housekeeping, Waste Management, or Sustainability Operations.
  • Experience working in large venues, major events, stadiums, or international projects.
  • Familiarity with legislative requirements and guidelines pertaining to all applicable provincial codes, standards and law including OHS Act, WHMIS, GBAC and other governing bodies.
  • Experience leading teams in a unionized environment an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge of Momentus (EBMS) and ABI an asset.

  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service and guest experience.
  • Willing and able to work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and overnights.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 – 80,000
