Heavy Equipment Operator

Cotton Inc has a current opening for an experienced Equipment Operator for excavation, dozer grading, and backfilling on construction site servicing/road projects.
Key responsibilities include:
· perform pre-operational inspections, safety and operational checks and preventative maintenance
· monitor equipment performance & manage loads and unloads
· read and interpret blueprints/site plans, and government legislation
· install, operate and remove attachments (i.e. quick attach, blades, buckets, towable scrapers)
· perform operations such as excavating, grading, ramp building, stockpiling, and backfilling
· check grades, perform cut and fill operations, maintain roads access, move mass materials, stripping surface materials, create slopes and ditches, spread materials, backfill trenches and excavations, maintain site area, level surfaces and clear land
· communicate through various techniques including hand signals
Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy machinery, specifically dozers & excavators
· Knowledge of safety measures and equipment maintenance
· Ability to read, interpret and implements blueprints, schematics, grade sheets and construction plans
· Strong communication and teamwork skills
· Ability to direct labours while grading
· Physically fit to operate heavy machinery for extended periods of time
· Able to work independently, and show strong problem solving skills
· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Physical Demands:
· Ability to sit and operate heavy machinery for extended periods of time
· Ability to climb onto and off of equipment
· Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 50 pounds
· Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
