We are seeking a results-driven and highly motivated
Business Development Executive
to spearhead our market expansion efforts in Alberta, with a primary focus on capturing significant market share in Calgary. This is a critical, self-directed role for an experienced relationship builder who will be instrumental in driving file count and revenue growth through key strategic partners.
The successful candidate will be the face of our firm on the ground, consistently managing and growing relationships with our vital referral partners in the Real Estate and Mortgage sectors. We are looking for someone who can hands-on scale our referral-based business and maintain the personal touch that defines our firm, rather than relying on digital engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Growth & Strategic Partnerships
- Market Domination:
Own the strategy and execution to significantly
"win Calgary"
and expand market share across Alberta. - Relationship Management:
Consistently visit, manage, and nurture existing and new relationships with referral partners, including realtors, brokers, agents, and financial services professionals. - Revenue Growth:
Take full ownership of identifying, pursuing, and closing new business opportunities to drive quantifiable revenue growth and file count for the firm. - Strategic Planning:
Develop, implement, and lead robust business development strategies that are fully aligned with the firm's overall growth goals.
Sales Process & Collaboration
- Execution:
Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and business development plan for the Alberta region. - Opportunity Identification:
Actively identify and pursue new mandates and high-value referral sources. - Market Intelligence:
Analyze local market trends, competitor activity, and client needs to identify new strategic opportunities and ensure our efforts are timely and relevant. - Cross-Functional Alignment:
Work closely and collaboratively with firm lawyers, internal marketing teams, and other stakeholders on pitches, proposals, reporting, and content creation. - Events & Media:
Collaborate with strategic partners on joint events, sponsorships, and media opportunities to increase brand presence.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary:
$80,000 CAD
Bonus:
Up to 20% of base salary; Eligible after probationary period; dependent on achieving assigned KPI's (Key Performance Indicators).
Vacation: 2 Weeks
+ recharge days and extended holiday periods. Subject to blackout periods during the firm's busy seasons.
Travel:
Approximately
25%
required travel within the province. Mileage will be paid according to firm policy
Required Experience & Attributes
- Experience:
3–7 years
of demonstrated experience in a business development, sales, or relationship management role. - Referral Building:
Proven track record of successfully
building and scaling referral-based business
in a related industry (e.g., professional services, financial services, real estate). - Self-Driven:
Must be highly self-driven, autonomous, and comfortable operating with little instruction. We are looking for a demonstrated ability to take initiative and deliver results. - Market Expertise:
Significant and demonstrable knowledge of the Alberta real estate and mortgage
markets, including local trends, the competitive landscape and client needs. - Transportation:
Must possess a reliable car or means of travel to fulfill the required 25% on-the-ground travel. The successful candidate will be visiting our partners on a weekly basis.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Existing Network:
A pre-existing referral network within the Calgary/Alberta real estate, mortgage, or private lending ecosystem is highly preferred. - Industry Background:
Previous experience as a realtor, broker, agent, or lawyer. - Partnerships & Content:
Proven experience developing strategic partnerships, affiliate marketing, content development, or product/service demonstrations. - Legal Context:
An understanding of how law firms operate.
Work Environment
- Work Setting:
Hybrid. Expected to work
2 days per week in the office
(Calgary/Alberta root office). - Onboarding:
The first 30 days are expected to be
full-time in office
for familiarization with the firm's operations and our specific P/L structure within Alberta.
