Position Overview

We are looking for a Kitchen Helper / Cook with previous experience to support daily kitchen operations, assist with food preparation, and help execute menu items to a high standard. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a busy environment, especially during evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and plating of menu items according to Majlis Lounge standards
  • Follow recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines consistently
  • Prepare ingredients (chopping vegetables, marinating meats, sauces, etc.) ahead of service
  • Support the Cook/Chef during peak hours to ensure timely service

Kitchen Operations & Cleaning

  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment
  • Assist with dishwashing and general cleaning duties as required
  • Handle food safely and follow all food safety and hygiene procedures

Inventory & Organization

  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries
  • Rotate stock (FIFO) and ensure ingredients are properly labeled and stored
  • Inform the supervisor of low stock items or any issues with ingredients or equipment

Teamwork & Service Quality

  • Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service
  • Follow instructions from the Head Chef / Kitchen Supervisor
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude, even during busy periods

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Kitchen Helper, Line Cook, Prep Cook, or similar role (minimum 6 months)
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to $18.00 per hour
