We are seeking a skilled Snow Plow Operator to efficiently clear snow and ice from designated roadways, parking lots, and walkways during winter months. The ideal candidate will have experience operating snow removal equipment and possess a strong understanding of safety protocols. This role is essential for maintaining safe and accessible environments during inclement weather conditions, ensuring smooth operations for residents, customers, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Operate snow plow trucks and related machinery to remove snow and ice from roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and other designated areas
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plowing equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Apply salt or de-icing materials as needed to prevent ice formation and improve traction
- Monitor weather conditions to anticipate snow removal needs and respond promptly during storms
- Coordinate with team members to prioritize routes and ensure efficient snow removal operations
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used during each shift
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries during snow removal activities
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating snow plow trucks or similar heavy machinery such as excavators or mechanical equipment
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance, horticulture, irrigation, gardening, or construction is a plus but not required
- Mechanical knowledge related to hand tools, power tools, and equipment maintenance is advantageous
- Ability to work in cold weather conditions for extended periods during winter storms
- Strong attention to safety protocols and ability to recognize potential hazards in outdoor environments
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required
- Physical stamina to perform manual tasks including lifting, shoveling, or clearing debris as needed
