Position Title: Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician
Location: Coaldale and area
Role Overview:
Responsible for routine maintenance, lubrication, and inspection on a variety of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, rock trucks, graders, scrapers, loaders, skid steers, highway tractors and crew trucks etc. to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and a commitment to providing quality work. This position requires the ability to work with various tools and equipment while in a variety of weather conditions. This position may at times operate in the field as a lube technician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow all company safety policies and practices
- Perform diagnostic, repairs and preventative maintenance for a variety of equipment including passenger vehicles, highway tractors and construction equipment
- Work on all components, including engines, electrical controls and systems, power train, hydraulics, brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions, fueling and other systems
- Assist with CVIP Inspections
- Communicate on parts required to complete tasks
- Document all work completed
- Test and inspect equipment to ensure repairs are completed thoroughly
- Ensure tools, equipment, and the lube truck are stocked and maintained in a clean and safe condition
Qualifications:
- Completion of first year apprenticeship schooling for Heavy Equipment Technician
- Class 5 drivers license with clean drivers abstract (Class 3 or 5, an asset)
- 2+ years of experience working on heavy and light trucks and trailers.
- Experience with off-highway equipment an asset.
- Ability to always work in a safe manner
- Physical ability to perform hands-on tasks in various weather conditions
- Able to understand written and verbal instructions in English
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis
- CVIP Certification an asset
- Basic computer skills
- Use of a cell phone with the ability to be trained on multiple apps (wifi provided)
