We are currently seeking all levels of Powerline Technicians who work alongside the Residential Red Seal Electricians in Regina and Moose Jaw areas, completing meter installation work to residential properties only. Travel is required as services extend throughout the province, and other work to be completed by the powerline technician is below.
The successful candidate must be courteous and will professionally provide quality electrical services that include installing meter boxes, conduit, and adding expansion boxes to services.
Job Duties
- Professionally represent Hundseth Power Line's commitment to exceptional customer service on each service call.
- Diagnose and repair electrical problems in residential electrical systems.
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, maintain, service, and install equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct all repairs and installations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Perform general and specific equipment inspections.
- Perform routine maintenance on various systems as requested.
- Set priorities and work assignments to meet established deadlines.
- Adhere to all safety rules and procedures and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all modern equipment and regulations.
Additional powerline technician job duties:
- Perform a variety of assignments involved in all aspects of the installation, construction, troubleshooting, repairing, specialized testing, and maintenance of all overhead and underground distribution, transmission lines, switching stations, substations, communication networks, streetlight facilities, and infrastructure
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment including: backhoe, trencher, skid steer, directional bore machine, digger derrick trucks, all-terrain track machine, crawler dozers, bobcats, forklift and trackhoe.
- Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to foreman.
Required:
- Mandatory: A valid Journeyman or Apprentice Power Line Technician Trade card from the Saskatchewan Trades & Apprenticeship Commission or Canadian Interprovincial Red seal certification.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A valid Class 5 license (clear driving abstract) is required with a 1A preferred.
- Previous experience operating the following: backhoe, trencher, skid steer, hydroVAC, directional bore machine, digger derrick trucks, all-terrain track machine, crawler dozers, bobcats, forklift and trackhoe would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to travel extensively across Saskatchewan.
- Ability to lift heavy tools and equipment over 50 pounds.
- Ability to work long shifts, 10-12 hour days, in all types of weather.
- This position is considered a safety sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment/pre-access medical test that includes a drug and alcohol screening, as well as hearing.
